Florida All-Stars is proud to introduce our new USPSA practical shooting team for juniors and adults. The team is based on the Treasure Coast and competes in matches across Florida.

What is USPSA?

USPSA (the United States Practical Shooting Association) is the national governing body for practical shooting in the United States. Founded in 1984, it is the U.S. branch of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC).

Practical shooting tests three skills at once: accuracy, power and speed. The sport’s motto, Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas, means exactly that. Instead of standing still and shooting at a single target, competitors move through a course, engage multiple targets from different positions, reload on the move and solve each stage as fast and as accurately as they can.

How a match works

  • Stages: A match is made up of several stages, each a different course of fire with its own layout, targets and challenges.
  • Scoring: Every hit earns points based on where it lands. Points are divided by time to produce a “hit factor,” so the best score rewards both speed and accuracy.
  • Divisions: Shooters compete against others using similar equipment, in divisions such as Production, Carry Optics, Limited, Open and Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC).
  • Classifications: Shooters are ranked by skill level, from D class up through C, B, A, Master and Grand Master, so everyone has someone to compete against.

Safety comes first

USPSA has one of the strongest safety records in the shooting sports. Every shooter on the clock is supervised by a certified Range Officer, and strict rules govern how firearms are handled, carried and holstered. Any safety violation ends a competitor’s match on the spot. Our coaches put safe handling at the center of everything we do, especially with our junior shooters.

Our team

The Florida All-Stars USPSA team brings the same values that drive our basketball program — teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and leadership — to the range. We field two groups:

  • Junior Team: Young shooters learning the sport under close coaching and parent or guardian supervision, building safe habits and fundamentals.
  • Adult Team: New and experienced shooters who want to train together, improve their classification and represent Florida All-Stars at matches.

For now, the team competes at club and regional matches around Florida, with an eye toward bigger events as the team grows.
